Charles Munch, Boston Symphony Orchestra – Ravel: Daphnis And Chloe
85,00 €Add to cartRCA Living Stereo classical LPs - the gold standard for top quality orchestral performance and sound! Part of the Analogue Productions RCA Living Stereo 45 RPM Series! Remastered from the original master tape and cut at 45 RPM by Bernie Grundman Includes 2-panel insert 180-gram vinyl 45 RPM double LP pressed at Quality Record Pressings! By far, this is Ravel's richest and most sumptuously colorful work. Charles Munch, throughout his conducting career, gave sympathetic attention to the music of Ravel, and, by performing the entire ballet score in its entirety, restored Daphnis and Chloe to a single rounded work, drawn together not only thematically, but by its characteristic mood and color. Recorded Jan. 23-24, 1955 at Symphony Hall. Originally released in 1960. Mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original 2-track master tape, cut at 45 RPM and plated and pressed at Quality Record Pressings — makers of the world's finest-sounding vinyl LPs, — no other editions match these for the quietest 180-gram platters available. Remastered from the original master tape and cut at 45 RPM by Bernie Grundman Includes 2-panel insert 180-gram vinyl 45 RPM double LP pressed at Quality Record Pressings! Praise for our 331/3 edition series reissues: "So far, Analogue Productions' series of outstanding reissues have avoided the missteps of the previous Classic Records issues, instead offering real improvements over the originals. ... The latest release, of this title and the Offenbach Gaite Parisienne (LSC 1817), keeps a perfect track record of outstanding Living Stereo releases by Analogue Productions. Pristine surfaces and better-defined layers of sound along with much finer texture add up to a wonderful experience of the famous Organ Symphony. The original is almost coarse sounding compared to this reissue. While the Offenbach reissue does not eclipse the original in all areas, the original remains very expensive and the reissue is superb." Recording = 10/10; Music = 10/10 - Dennis D. Davis, Hi-Fi +, Issue 119 "These are the best vinyl releases of RCA LPs I've yet heard." — Jonathan Valin, executive editor, The Absolute Sound This performance of the Saint-Saëns Symphony No. 3 (Organ Symphony) is a favorite Living Stereo release. To say that it is incredible might be an understatement. The original 3-track session tapes were used in mastering for the LPs and SACDS in this Analogue Productions reissue series. The record reveals all of the glory of the recording and the precision and passion of Munch and the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Boston's Symphony Hall. It's more than ever the sonic blockbuster par excellence! It doesn't get any better than this. Earl Wild, Arthur Fiedler, The Boston Pops – Gershwin: Concerto in F – Cuban Overture – “I Got Rhythm” Variations
85,00 €Add to cartRCA Living Stereo classical LPs — the gold standard for top quality orchestral performance and sound! If you're a classical music lover with even a passing affection for Gershwin, this is one of those "drop everything and listen" albums. Earl Wild, Arthur Fiedler, and the Boston Pops joined forces here in a match that could only be described as electric-and RCA's Living Stereo engineers captured it all with a warmth and immediacy that still feels astonishing today. The performances are world-class. Earl Wild was the American virtuoso who understood Gershwin not just as a crowd-pleaser, but as a serious composer. His piano sparkles in the Concerto in F-by turns jazzy, sultry, and thunderously grand. Arthur Fiedler, at the height of his long reign with the Boston Pops, provides the perfect foil: a conductor who knew how to give Gershwin's music its swing and sparkle without ever losing its classical backbone. Together, they make Gershwin sound both sophisticated and wildly alive. Then there's the sound. This is RCA Living Stereo at its finest — lush but not bloated, with Wild's piano given a front-and-center clarity that makes you feel like you're seated at Symphony Hall. The rhythmic drive of "I Got Rhythm" Variations, the sultry sway of the Cuban Overture, and the grandeur of the Concerto all come across with jaw-dropping presence. It's no wonder collectors and casual fans alike have called this one of the most thrilling of the entire Living Stereo series. If you want to hear Gershwin played with equal parts virtuosity, joy, and sonic splendor — this is the pressing you reach for. I haven't put it up against an original shaded dog with low stamper numbers, so you could argue that those original pressings still sound the best. But folks, you can buy this one on heavy, audiophile vinyl brand new at a cost considerably lower than a used and potentially compromised original press. To me, it is a no brainer. I heard things in this pressing that I didn't hear before." — Dr. Ryan Oldham, UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance, and curator of classical music at Vinyl Renaissance in Kansas City. Another triumph with ravishing string tone, so sweet and liquid it could've been poured from a jar. Not as spectacular as the previous two titles because the (mostly) Albéniz compositions aren't as consistently slam-bang dynamic, though when the music heats up so do the sonic thrills." — Jonathan Valin, The Absolute Sound.com, June 11, 2013. To read the full review click here: http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/sneak-preview-acoustic-sounds-rca-reissues/ This record includes Falla's Dance from the Three-Cornered Hat and La Vida Breve and Albeniz's Trina from Oberia. Transcribed for Orchestra by Arbos. Great performances and sensational sonics! Among Spaniards there is no greater composer than Manuel de Falla — the tang of the country, the swirl of its landscape, the passion of its people are proudly stamped on every note he wrote. Goyescas, written in 1915 by the Spanish composer Enrique Granados, was the first opera performed in Spanish at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City at its premier in January 1916. The Intermezzo from the opera, inspired by the paintings of Francisco Goya, became a popular independent concert piece. Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz composed the Iberia suite for piano between 1905 and 1909. It was his best-known work and considered his masterpiece. Gregor Piatigorsky, Charles Munch, Boston Symphony Orchestra – Dvorak: Cello Concerto
85,00 €Add to cartRCA Living Stereo classical LPs — the gold standard for top quality orchestral performance and sound! Few recordings capture the electricity of great artistry meeting great music the way this one does. In this landmark RCA Living Stereo release, the legendary cellist Gregor Piatigorsky joins forces with Charles Munch and the Boston Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Dvorák's Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 that has stood as a reference point for decades. Why does it remain so revered? For one, Piatigorsky's playing strikes the perfect balance between nobility and fire. His tone is deep and commanding, yet his phrasing has a warmth and lyricism that makes the concerto's tender passages glow. Every note feels like it carries the weight of lived experience. Then there's Munch, whose famously spontaneous, almost volatile conducting style matches Piatigorsky's intensity measure for measure. Under his direction, the Boston Symphony surges with vitality-lush strings, blazing brass, and a rhythmic drive that gives the concerto its sweeping drama. It's a meeting of two larger-than-life personalities, captured in the full splendor of RCA's legendary three-microphone Living Stereo process. Collectors and connoisseurs often place this among the very finest of the Living Stereo catalog — not just for the star power, but because it embodies everything the series is about: audiophile sound, inspired artistry, and performances that feel alive, as if the music is being created in the moment. Davis, Hi-Fi +, Issue 121 "These are the best vinyl releases of RCA LPs I've yet heard." — Jonathan Valin, executive editor, The Absolute Sound Since its original release on LP in the mid-1950s, Fritz Reiner's rendition of the Concerto for Orchestra has stood as the standard against which all other recordings of the work are measured. Reiner's superb control of his orchestra and of Bartók's rhythms and textures is still unsurpassed, even by dozens of subsequent conductors in the digital age. Likewise, the Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta shows just what an incredible ensemble the Chicago Symphony was under Reiner's direction. The original 2-track session tapes were used in mastering for LPs and SACDs. Reiner delivers definitive interpretations that set a standard that remains unsurpassed. When Jascha Heifetz stepped into the studio with Charles Munch and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the result was nothing less than legendary. Beethoven's Violin Concerto, a work of noble lyricism and timeless beauty, found in Heifetz a soloist of supreme technical command and aristocratic poise. His playing radiates both precision and passion, every phrase polished to brilliance yet never losing its expressive depth. Heifetz was the leading figure among the extraordinary group of Russian Jews who dominated violin playing in the second and third quarters of the 20th century. As a technician he had no superior, and, of all the artists of his time and later, only two or three could even offer a challenge to his electrifying precision of execution. His diamond-point tone and quick vibrato afforded his playing a clarity of line that some felt was almost too perfect, even cold. Praise for our 331/3 edition series reissues: "These are the best vinyl releases of RCA LPs I've yet heard." — Jonathan Valin, executive editor, The Absolute Sound Within the RCA Living Stereo catalog, few recordings capture the balance of virtuosity, refinement, and sonic brilliance as this remarkable pairing of Glazounov and Mozart. At the center is, of course, Jascha Heifetz — the violinist whose name became synonymous with perfection. Here he delivers one of his most commanding and lyrical readings of Glazounov's Violin Concerto, a work that was very much his own calling card. Backed by conductor Walter Hendl, Heifetz brings both dazzling precision and an almost vocal warmth that turns the concerto into a soaring narrative. Many collectors regard this as among his greatest concerto performances on record. The companion work, Mozart's Symphonie Concertante in E-Flat, adds yet another dimension. Joined by the legendary violist William Primrose and guided by conductor Izler Solomon, Heifetz reveals his chamber instincts in a performance that feels both intimate and grand. The interplay between violin and viola has rarely been captured with such finesse, each phrase glowing with personality while maintaining Mozart's classical balance. What makes the Societa Corelli virtually unique among interpreters of Corelli, Vaivaldi and other masters of that period is their style. Their tone production, use of vibrato and other subtleties evident in this performance are artistic, creative and vital music-making. Howlin’ Wolf – Moanin’ In The Moonlight
42,00 €Add to cartHowlin' Wolf — Moanin' in the Moonlight (Mono) Chess Records 75 Series from Chess Records and Acoustic Sounds! Haunting 1959 album debut introduced Wolf's signature growl on "Smokestack Lightnin'" and "Evil" All-analog mastering by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab 180-gram vinyl pressed at Quality Record Pressings Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time rated No. 477/500! Howlin' Wolf's Moanin' in the Moonlight is a compilation album released by Chess Records in 1959, comprising songs recorded between 1951 and 1959 previously issued as singles, including the iconic hit "Smokestack Lightnin'." As Rolling Stone put it, "The Wolf had the biggest roar in Chicago blues — he raved in a fierce growl, backed by explosive playing from guitar geniuses Willie Johnson and Hubert Sumlin. His 1959 debut album has some of the meanest electric blues ever heard ... from the eerie railroad drone 'Smokestack Lightnin' to the lowdown 'I Asked for Water (She Gave Me Gasoline)." Founded in 1950 by Polish immigrant brothers Leonard and Phil Chess, Chess Records emerged from the south side of Chicago and enhanced and transformed the blues from folk music to popular sound. Wolf added the raw, untamed electricity that turned the blues into a primal force. With Willie Dixon's songwriting magic, Hubert Sumlin's razor-sharp guitar lines, and Wolf's voice — a voice that sounds like it was carved out of granite with a switchblade — Moanin' in the Moonlight became an anchor of the Chess empire. Each release in the Chess Records 75 Series is remastered from the original analog tapes by Matt Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, the wizard who understands that the Wolf's growl should shake your floorboards, not your ears! Likewise, if vinyl had a luxury spa, Quality Record Pressings would be it. Dead-quiet surfaces, 180-gram heft, and grooves so pristine — it's Chess mono magic, restored with soul! It's big, it's warm, and the sound is alive. Like Wolf himself just walked into your listening room. Lastly, reissues in this series are housed in archival quality tip-on gatefold jackets, offering both audiophiles and collectors a premium listening experience. Bottom line — Moanin' in the Moonlight isn't just an album; it's the cornerstone of electric blues. It's the sound of raw power before marketing departments figured out how to package it. Spin this reissue and rediscover why blues fans treat this record like sacred text — because when the Wolf howls, the world still listens.

Peggy Lee – Black Coffee
44,00 €Add to cartAcoustic Sounds Series reissues from Verve/Universal Music Enterprises! Monthly releases highlighting the world's most historic and best jazz records! Mastered by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound from the original analog tapes 180-gram LPs pressed at Quality Record Pressings! Stoughton Printing gatefold old-style tip-on jackets Series supervised by Chad Kassem CEO of Acoustic Sounds Seeking to offer definitive audiophile grade versions of some of the most historic and best jazz records ever recorded, Verve Label Group and Universal Music Enterprises' new audiophile Acoustic Sounds vinyl reissue series utilizes the skills of top mastering engineers and the unsurpassed production craft of Quality Record Pressings. All titles are mastered from the original analog tapes, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and packaged by Stoughton Printing Co. in high-quality gatefold sleeves with tip-on jackets. The releases are supervised by Chad Kassem, CEO of Acoustic Sounds, the world's largest source for audiophile recordings. Included in the December title releases for the the series is the iconic Peggy Lee's first 12-inch album, Black Coffee (1956). Black Coffee was Peggy Lee's album smash for Decca (she left Capitol in 1952 over creative, artistic differences) and it offered her an intimate stage with a small jazz combo, exchanging her usual jazz-pop style with a big band or orchestra. This smaller combination worked to perfection. "Encouraged by longtime Decca A&R Milt Gabler, she hired a small group including trumpeter Pete Candoli and pianist Jimmy Rowles (two of her favorite sidemen) to record an after-hours jazz project similar in intent and execution to Lee Wiley's "Manhattan project" of 1950, Night in Manhattan. While the title-track opener of Black Coffee soon separated itself from the LP — to be taught forever after during the first period of any Torch Song 101 class — the album doesn't keep to its concept very long; Lee is soon enough in a bouncy mood for 'I've Got You Under My Skin' and very affectionate on 'Easy Living.' (If there's a concept at work here, it's the vagaries of love.) Listeners should look instead to 'It Ain't Necessarily So' or 'Gee, Baby, Ain't I Good to You?' for more examples of Lee's quintessentially slow-burn sultriness. Aside from occasionally straying off-concept, however, Black Coffee is an excellent record, spotlighting Lee's ability to shine with every type of group and in any context." — AllMusic "Each step in our production process — from title selection to mastering, pressing and packaging — is designed to meet the highest standards, and we want everyone who hears these albums to feel the love and hard work we put into everything we do," says Chad Kassem CEO of Acoustic Sounds.
